Atelier Tremplin

Objective

The “Atelier Tremplin” is specifically formulated for recent graduates of art and ceramic schools; under graduates or graduate curriculum. The goal of the Atelier Tremplin is to provide a staircase for new graduates that will assist them in making their advancement into increasingly skilled and competent practice. Provision of housing, study space, opportunity for community engagement and for public exhibitions of the culmination of individual creative skills are essential components of the programme.

Description

A.I.R. Vallauris has recently renovated and equipped a ceramic studio with the assistance of the French Regional Government, Conseil Régional Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur.  This new space and the funding allow A.I.R. Vallauris to launch Atelier Tremplin, advancing its educational programing in ceramic arts.

The Atelier Tremplin offers:

  • Lodging
  • Studio space
  • Gallery space
  • Online space where work can be exhibited throughout the duration of the programme
  • Participation with masterclass workshops organized by A.I.R. Vallauris
  • Involvement with A.I.R. Vallauris resident artists and colleagues of the Atelier Tremplin programme
  • Involvement with local artists of the region
  • A group exhibition at the end of the programme

Benefits of the programme

Provided with the necessary infrastructure to facilitate production of new work, participants will be able to focus on their personal creative goals and develop in an environment encompassing individual support and community engagement. The culture and atmosphere is supportive of the ceramic arts through exhibitions, dialogues and exchange.
Inspiration can be drawn from the rich artistic and ceramic traditions from the region as well as from colleagues of the Atelier Tremplin programme, A.I.R. Vallauris resident artists and local artists.
An outlet for exhibition of work is provided throughout the duration of the programme in our gallery as well as our online boutique. The first Thursday of each month the galleries and artists of Vallauris organize collective exhibition openings.

Participants of the Atelier Tremplin are encouraged to produce work for the monthly shows organized by A.I.R.Vallauris which will be based upon a specific theme.  This opportunity encourages participants to work toward monthly deliverables of specific objects.
In addition, participants will be offered the opportunity to assist in curating these monthly exhibitions.
Opportunities for additional skill development are also possible through participation in Masterclass workshops organized by A.I.R. Vallauris.
The final exhibition to be organized at the Atelier Tremplin conclusion challenges participants to achieve additional goals and to spark motivation for creation through experiencing participation in an international group show.

Participation

Applicants considered for the Atelier Tremplin programme are recent graduates from an undergraduate or graduate degree in ceramics. We encourage students from all over the world, with a graduate degree in ceramics, to apply. Atelier Tremplin is seeking students who are willing to be immersed in the culture of the area and the local community.

For Institutions providing fellowships for participation, the selection of candidates will be determined by the partnership.

At present, four participants are awarded space for each of the three yearly sessions of the programme.
